Focus

Morgan practices family law and matrimonials, primarily divorces, prenuptial agreements, custody and visitation disputes, child and spousal support matters, domestic violence situations, and defending neglect proceedings and terminations of parental rights.

Secondarily, Morgan is equipped to handle corporate transactions for public and private companies, securities compliance, and day-to-day corporate matters.

Experience

Morgan has over 25 years of legal experience in litigation, family and corporate law.  He operated his own independent litigation practice for 10 years, emphasizing family and matrimonial law.  He has appeared throughout New York City Family Courts and Supreme Courts representing children and adults, managed over 500 cases and conducted over 30 trials in divorce, custody/visitation, family offense and neglect matters. In 2001-2003, Morgan worked as a pro bono counsel for Sanctuary for Families, New York State’s largest battered women’s legal service center, where he represented domestic abuse victims.  He is an active member of the New York City Bar Association, where he previously served on the Family Court and Family Law Committee.

As a corporate attorney, Morgan managed public company mergers and acquisitions, tender offers, consent solicitations, and offerings of debt and equity securities, acquiring particular expertise in high-yield debt instruments.  He has drafted offering prospectuses and all transaction documentation.  He was General Counsel to Cygnifi Derivatives Services, LLC prior to its bankruptcy in 2001.

Education

Morgan graduated Summa Cum Laude and with University Honors from Abilene Christian University in 1989 before receiving a Juris Doctor from New York University Law School in 1992.
